KiwiRail has been considering seeking a partner for its long-distance Scenic passenger services since April last year.
KiwiRail’s General Manager, Passenger, Deborah Hume says KiwiRail has been considering seeking a partner for its long-distance Scenic passenger services since April last year to help grow and transform the long distance passenger business. “This option has been detailed in our Annual Report and Statement of Corporate Intent, while also being discussed at our Annual Public Meeting last year. It is no secret that the business is struggling due to the Christchurch earthquakes and generally slow economic conditions. Discussions are continuing but no decision has been made and the business will be run as normal in the meantime,” Ms Hume says.
