Johnsonville Line Disruptions

29 October 2013 2:02PM

Due to an unforeseen extension to this weekend's track maintenance, Johnsonville Line services will be bus replaced on a half hourly basis with the aim of having train services running on the line by tomorrow morning.

A large amount of track maintenance was undertaken and completed across the Wellington Metro network over Labour weekend. On the Johnsonville line, this included ballast and sleeper replacement. However, there is a 600 metre section of track between Awarua Street and Ngaio Station which has proven much more difficult than anticipated due to the confined space at this location and the amount of work required. While new sleepers have been successfully installed at this section, we are not satisfied with the alignment of the track and will be working with urgency to ensure this issue is addressed as quickly as possible.

Track workers worked late into the night on Monday 28 October and will continue to work throughout the day today.

More information will be posted as it becomes available on the Tranz Metro website (www.tranzmetro.co.nz), via text, Twitter, Metlink and the electronic signboards at stations.

Replacement bus services will depart Johnsonville from 6.30am half hourly, and Wellington from 6.32am half hourly. Crofton Downs will be serviced by a shuttle bus to and from Ngaio Station. The shuttle will take passengers to and from Ngaio Station to connect with the North or Southbound bus. The Southbound shuttle will depart five minutes before the regular departure time.

We apologise to customers for the inconvenience and would like to ensure them that we are working to have train services operating on the Johnsonville line as soon as possible.
