Interislander investigating fault on Stena Alegra
17 January 2014 9:09AM
This morning, around 5am, Aratere’s interim replacement ship, Stena Alegra, suffered a partial loss of power upon its departure out of Wellington which has affected some of the control systems for one of the propellers.
The sailing was freight-only and the ship is currently anchored in Wellington Harbour while staff onboard investigate the fault.
The 9:05am passenger sailing from Picton has been cancelled. The sailing had 148 passenger vehicles booked, and we are in the process of moving affected passengers and cars to alternative sailings.
“Our staff are working hard to find a solution to the fault and get the ship back into operation. We apologise to our customers for the disruption and will issue an update as we have more news,” says Interislander General Manager Thomas Davis.
