Train services suspended following earthquake

KiwiRail has taken the precaution of halting all trains on the rail network in the lower North island following this afternoon’s earthquake near Eketahuna while track inspections are undertaken to check for any damage to the rail network.
Tranz Metro is urging customers to check the information before they travel at www.tranzmetro.co.nz
The Northern Explorer is at Marton and passengers have been transferred to buses for the remainder of the journey.
Interislander ferry services are unaffected by this event.
