Interislander schedules extra sailings for Labour Weekend

Interislander has scheduled an extra sailing of Arahura for Labour Day, due to heavy passenger demand.

Arahura will depart Wellington at 1030 and arrive in Picton at 1340, before departing Picton at 1430 for a 1740 arrival back in the capital.

“We’ve seen heavy demand for sailings on Labour Day, as people come home from a long weekend away, so we’ve scheduled an extra sailing to ensure we can cater for everyone who’s looking to travel,” says  Interislander general manager Thomas Davis.

“We have a number of initiatives we’re rolling out for the summer season, including a revamped bar snack menu, and the strong demand of Labour Weekend gives us a good indication of what’s to come over the next few months.”

From midday on Friday 24 October to the late sailings on Labour Day, Interislander will carry close to 3500 passengers across Cook Strait.  Staff will continue to monitor bookings across both Labour Weekend and the summer season, and schedule additional sailings where capacity exists.

Customers can check the Interislander website at or call the customer service centre on 0800 802 802 for details on all the Labour Weekend sailings.
