KiwiRail will be carrying out further repairs to the Silverstream rail bridge this weekend, following a vehicle strike on 7 January that caused significant structural damage to the bridge span.
The Eastern Hutt Road will be closed to traffic in both directions from 8pm on Saturday17 January and is scheduled to reopen by 6am Monday 19 January while the work is carried out.
Tranz Metro services on the Hutt Line between Taita and Upper Hutt will be replaced by bus after 7.30pm Saturday 17 January until 6am Monday 19 January.
Wairarapa services will be operating as normal, including dedicated services for the Wings Over Wairarapa event this weekend.

Valley Flyer bus services on Route 110 will be disrupted as a consequence of the road closure. Valley Flyer customers are advised to visit www.metlink.org.nz or call 0800 801 700 for more information.
The Eastern Hutt Road is currently reduced to a single lane which will continue until the full road closure this weekend. Completion of the works this weekend will allow the resumption of two-way traffic beneath the bridge.
