Great Journeys New Zealand, in collaboration with The Court Theatre, is set to deliver the ultimate evening of intrigue and indulgence with the launch of Tormore Never Dies - a James Bond-inspired murder-mystery dining experience aboard the iconic Tormore Express.
Departing from Christchurch on Monday 27 April, Monday 18 May, and Sunday 12 July 2026, the event promises an unforgettable evening of immersive theatre, fine dining, and scenic travel through Canterbury’s landscapes.
The evening begins in Great Journeys New Zealand’s Christchurch Departure Lounge, where guests will be treated to canapés and cocktails before boarding the Tormore Express for a three-course fine dining experience paired with premium beverages. As the train sets off, The Court Jesters from The Court Theatre lead an interactive murder mystery that unfolds carriage by carriage, blending live performance with audience participation in an atmosphere of suspense and sophistication.
“Tormore Never Dies captures the spirit of what makes Great Journeys New Zealand unique — bringing together extraordinary partnerships, creative storytelling, and breathtaking rail journeys,” said KiwiRail Executive GM Passenger Tracey Goodall.
“We’re constantly looking for ways to reimagine rail travel in Aotearoa, and this collaboration with The Court Theatre delivers something truly special — a night of theatre, fine dining, and adventure all in motion.”
The Court Theatre Partnerships & Development Manager Sophie Hicks said the production builds on the success of previous Tormore Express events while introducing an entirely new twist for audiences.
“Tormore Never Dies takes the Tormore Express experience to the next level with a dynamic, spy-themed storyline. By combining live theatre, interactive storytelling, and a three-course fine dining experience, it delivers an evening that’s both immersive and entertaining.”
The announcement also marks the return of the sell-out Murder Mystery on the Tormore Express event series, with new 2026 dates on Sunday 26 April and Sunday 17 May.
Each journey includes pre-departure canapés and cocktails, a three-course dinner with paired beverages, and a live interactive performance that unfolds carriage by carriage.
