KiwiRail teams work around the clock seven days a week making sure the track and other infrastructure are well maintained so train services can operate safely. And as services continue to increase, so will the amount of maintenance needed to keep trains running safely.
This project is expected to be completed before 2024 so the benefits are in place before the City Rail Link opens:
• Ease congestion on the busiest part of Auckland’s (and New Zealand’s) rail network,
• Allow for anticipated growth in both freight and commuter traffic, and
• Improve links to key freight hubs.
