KiwiRail company structure tidy-up complete

KiwiRail has completed the amalgamation of KiwiRail Holdings Limited with its subsidiary company KiwiRail Limited.

This has no practical effect on the daily operation of KiwiRail or on its employees, but removes the administrative complexity of having two separate companies.

KiwiRail Holdings Ltd was created in 2012 and is a State-Owned Enterprise.

KiwiRail Ltd was created in 2008 when bought by the Crown from previous owners Toll, and was a wholly owned subsidiary of KiwiRail Holdings Ltd.

The moves mean KiwiRail Holdings Ltd assumes all the rights and obligations previously held by KiwiRail Ltd, and KiwiRail Ltd ceased to exist from 31 October.
